Anniversary shoes

A few years ago (I think it was for our 2nd anniversary), Jonathan and I were trying to think of an anniversary gift we could get each other every year.  We came up with something...shoes!  I love shoes and Jonathan, well, he likes them (I think more and more as time goes on--I'm influencing him).  Here's a shot of our 5 year anniversary shoes courtesy of Anjuli.

Update

I know it has been a couple of weeks, so I thought I should let you know what we're doing around here.  Right now we are in San Diego visiting friends and family.  Jonathan had a work golf tourney in Palm Springs, so the whole fam came along!  He is in PS for the weekend while Cam and I hang out in SD.  We are having a great time and loving being back in the state we will always call home. It has been wonderful spending time with friends (college and high school) and we're looking forward to seeing family on Monday--Jonathan's aunt and uncle will be meeting the little man for the first time.  It's hard to believe we left CA over 3 years ago, especially when we come back and it feels like we still live here.  Some highlights so far...
  • Seeing Kim's belly (she is due the end of September)
  • Hanging out with little Landon (13 months) and his mommy too!
  • Being with college friends--Kim, Dave, Karly, Kyle, Deanna, Ryan, Lyndsy, and Evan--thanks for making me feel like I never left. :)  Whit and Matt...miss you guys!
  • Going to dinner with a great high school friend that I haven't seen in 5 years!
  • Eating In-n-Out and frozen yogurt (daily)
  • Taking family photos with Anjuli
  • Hearing the great news about Deanna's egg retrieval in person
Highlights to come...
  • Laci, one of my favorite girls ever, is driving down to SD on Tuesday
  • As previously mentioned, visiting Jonathan's aunt, uncle, and mom (who is making the trip down to Laguna...thanks Mama!)
  • Meeting baby Dillan (just over 2 months) and seeing his mommy and daddy, Kimmie and Dusty
  • Hanging out with my fabulous high school volleyball and track coach (and friend) tomorrow!  She just happens to be in SD this weekend because her hub is doing a tri...perfect timing
Fun times!  Pics will be posted soon after we get back...hopefully! Have a great weekend everyone!

5 years

5 years ago today was one of the best days of my life...I married Jonathan!  It was a perfect day, one that I will never forget.  I cannot believe we have hit this mark, it seems like some sort of milestone in married life.  Jonathan is an incredible husband and (in just the last 10 months) has become an unbelievable Daddy.  Here are just a few things I love about this guy:
He....
  • loves Jesus
  • puts Camden and me before himself
  • makes me laugh
  • loves me for who I am
  • is close to his family (parents and siblings)--this, by the way, is one of the first things that attracted me to him
  • is authentic...with everyone
  • can talk to anyone
  • makes spending time with us (Cam and me) a priority
There is so much more!  Happy anniversary!  I love you so much!

10 months!

I'm sitting here in disbelief...I just put my 10-month-old to bed.  10 months!  We are only 2 months away from his 1st birthday.  Crazy!  I can't believe it was 10 months ago that I was holding my little 6 pound 10 ounce peanut.  We struggled to get him to open his eyes, he was so sleepy.  My 18 pound 12 ounce little bundle of energy fell asleep about 15 minutes ago...I put him to bed 45 minutes ago.  I heard some thumping in the monitor so I went to check on the babe.  He was on his knees, grabbing onto the railing of his crib, and banging on it with his hand---not so sleepy anymore!
Noteworthy:
  • His second tooth popped through
  • He claps
  • Now he takes baths in the big tub
  • Went to the zoo for the 1st time
  • The carrier has been retired--he sits in the stroller and rides in his "big boy car seat"
  • Had to take Motrin for the 1st time due to a 103* temp
  • Started shaking his head "no"
  • Learning to crawl--he does more "crawls" daily
  • He likes to drop things and watch where they land
  • His little personality is shining!  He makes a funny face and will start giggling (at who knows what) on his own
Here are some pics I took today of our baby who is quickly turning into a little boy.

Drool face

"Oops...I dropped something!"

Happy boy!

Happy it's bath time!

Washing all that hair!

"Hmmm...what does this taste like?"

"I love bath time!"

All clean!

August 2

One year ago today, I was with many of you in CA celebrating the baby boy that would be arriving soon (turns out, it was sooner than we thought!).  I cannot believe how time flies.  I know I sound old when I say this, but I honestly feel like my baby shower was yesterday.  I can hear the steel drums playing and can see the faces of all the fabulous ladies who were there to show Baby Bentley and me some love.

Twenty-nine years ago today my mom and dad said their wedding vows.  Happy anniversary to my most favorite (I know that's bad grammar) couple...besides Jonathan and me! ;)  Thank you for being you...a wonderful example of a loving, understanding, and fun marriage!  I love you both!

Cheers to August 2nd!

lil' biscuit

Camden is working on tooth #3!  The drool, the pain, the red cheeks, the difficult time sleeping...it's all happening.  Poor thing!  I was at Sunflower Market the other day (like Henry's or Trader Joe's for you CA folk) and saw a little something that might relieve his pain...all-natural teething biscuits.  Similar to Airborne, this lady made these out of her home for her daughter and now makes millions I'm sure!  I thought I'd give it a whirl!  Camden assured me it was a great purchase!  They are a bit messy, but he LOVES them!

Ummm...what am I supposed to do with this, Mommy?

Well, I guess I'll just stick it in my mouth...that's what I do with everything else!

I'm liking this thing!  Look, it's even on my hands!

Oh yeah!  That was awesome!

Now I'm going to show Gramps my biscuit eating skills.  Watch this, I'll stick it in long ways!

Gramps, are you sure you don't want any?  It's dang good!

That's right, I'm a lil' biscuit (my outfit says so) and I eat them too!  Thanks Uncle Jeremy and Auntie Sara for this get-up...it's perfect for my newfound love!
