Sleepy Yet Stylin'

We had a church picnic a few weekends ago to wrap up our couples class for the summer.  It was hot!  Good thing Auntie Jo hooked Camden up with a new hat (among other things...thanks Auntie)!  We thought the chin strap was a bit lame at first, but it actually came in handy.  He didn't try to get it off at all...he didn't even touch it, but the strap helped to keep it straight.  Poor little guy was a bit tired--the picnic was during his naptime, but he hung in there and looked dang cute!

Auntie Jo

My mom and aunt did their annual vacation together in Estes Park this year (about an hour and half from our house). They were kind enough to spend one of their days hanging out with us! :)  It was Auntie Jo's first time meeting Camden. She loved him and he loved her necklace...he loved her too!  As you can see from the pics, he could not take his hands off that thing!  We had a great time just being together.

Who's Counting?

I am!  Only 13 days of school left!  Yay!  I am so excited to have time off...not just for the summer, but the entire 2009-2010 school year. Many of you don't know, but I am taking next year off and I am beyond ecstatic!  Not working will be a little tough on the pocketbook, but so worth it.  I never pictured myself as the "stay-at-home-mom type," but becoming a mom definitely changed that.  I am gone from about 7am to 1pm and I feel like I'm missing so much.  My only option was to go full-time and it broke my heart just thinking about it.  I cannot wait to spend more time with Camden...to be around for every squeal and smile.  I feel so blessed to be able to be with him.  I will never get these moments back.  I cannot be the best mom and the best teacher at the same time (not now anyway), so I chose being the best mom I can be!  13 days...I can do it!

7 months!

Our baby boy is 7-months-old!  We are still loving every minute!  He is sitting without support, talking up a storm, and drooling like crazy.  We are thinking a tooth might make an appearance any day now, but we have been thinking that for a month or two!  Who knows!  He is 16 pounds 8 ounces and 27 inches (the length is according to his 6 month appointment, so he might be longer now).  We couldn't love him more!

Mamasita

Although Mom's Day is quickly coming to an end, I still wanted to write a little something about my own mom.  I love her like crazy!  She is the best...best friend, best mom, best grammy.  She has taught me so much and continues to teach me.  Now that I'm a mom myself, I think I value her love, lessons, advice, and support even more (which I didn't think was possible).  She is so fun to be around, can make anyone smile--including the grumpy cashier at your local department store--and sees the positive in everyone and every situation.  My mom is my "go to" girl for anything and everything (except cooking)!  Mom, thank you for being you!  You are a huge part of who I am today.  I love and appreciate you so much!  To my 2 moms-in-law...you have been fabulous since day one.  Thank you for loving and accepting me like your own daughter.  I am blessed.  Happy Mom's Day!

Before I was a Mom

I did not write this!  Laci's mom emailed it to me, Laci put it on her blog, and now I'm posting it on mine.  It is SO true!  Happy Mom's Day!

Before I was a Mom,

I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not
my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,

I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night
watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,

I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.

I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much.

I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,

I didn't know the feeling of
having my heart outside my body..
I didn't know how special it could feel
to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond
between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom,

I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being a Mom...
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a Mom .

Visits

Good thing we have a guest bedroom!  We are so thankful it is there and getting used!  It has been so fun to have a few visitors come our way recently...Grandma (Jonathan's mom), Grammy (my mom), and Gramps (my dad).  Grandma hadn't seen Camden since Christmas time so she came out to get "her fix."  It was great having her here--we even got her for an extra day due to her flight being cancelled.  Crazy weather!  Grammy headed down about a week later to watch Camden (once again) while Jonathan traveled.  She has been amazing and so willing to make the 7 hour drive to be with her grandson while I'm at work and JB is away.  On Thursday, Grammy and Gramps swapped places.  My mom headed home and my dad came (they didn't come at the same time due to work schedule conflicts).  My dad hadn't seen Camden since Christmas time either.  So, like Grandma, he was shocked by how much he has grown and changed.  Thanks for coming!  Visit again soon!

Playdate

About a week ago, Camden and I went over to Sarah's house for a playdate.  We had a great time...babies and mommies!  It was fun to talk about life and our little ones in the midst of naps, feedings, and diaper changes.  We had two sets of babies close in age.  Anja is about 3 weeks older than Camden and Avery and Ava are only 2 days apart!

Happy boy!  He was all smiles for the ladies!

I included this one to show you his sweet bald spot...it's starting to wrap around his head.

Doesn't Camden look huge?  From left to right: Anja, Camden, Ava, and Avery

We almost got them all to look!
