March visit #2...Grandpa and Memaw

Grandpa and Memaw headed north in the middle of March. We had a great time at the Museum of Flight (our first time there) and hit up KidsQuest again. It was chilly, but they were troopers and bundled up to play outside with the kids. We love you, Grandpa and Memaw! Thank you for coming, we're so glad you did!

:)

Checking out a display at the Museum of Flight

The Bentley boys sitting in an airplane and watching a video on the history of planes (I think)

Trying to catch the ball (the black thing between his arms has air coming out of it)

A little grocery shopping with socks on his hands...brrrr!

It was cold, but it wasn't raining!

March visit #1...GG

March was a great month of family visitors for us! First up was GG! She had a few days off from teaching piano lessons so she made a quick trip up to the NW. The timing was perfect because she was able to be here on Jonathan's birthday! We love you, GG! Thanks for visiting! Papa, we missed you and look forward to seeing you this Summer!

Boat time!

Camden loved this! The water sprays up and hits the cymbals (this boy is obsessed with instruments)

Watching the water

They have a designated area for little guys. Parker was diggin' the train table.

Trying to crawl up the slide

Jonathan's birthday cupcake!
(I forgot to buy candles...good thing the boys turned 3 and 1 at their last birthdays so I could put them together for JB's 31st)

The birthday boy with his boys!

Somebody loves sweets almost as much as his mama!

Cupcake goodness!

Sweeping up the crumbs for us!

They are looking at GG's camera, but still a cute pic

Camden's Words

A few things I've heard from my big guy lately...

"Parker is my best little brother!" (Melts Mama's heart)

"Daddy, you have to go to a hotel?" (He asks this pretty much every day as Jonathan is leaving for work)

"I just tooted! Wanna smell my booty?" (With a little smirk on his face, of course!)

"Why?" (This follows pretty much every statement he hears)

"Sometime I can ride my horse again because I have a horse!" (Awesome!)

"Ooohhh, I look handsome!" (While checking himself out in the mirror after his bath)

"C'mon guys, let's rock and roll!" (Talking to his friends as they form a band in our living room)

"They're playing a game little boys can play?" (While looking out the window at the neighborhood kids--he loves playing with the big guys)

Rewind: Tree hunt 2011

We went to a few Christmas tree lots hunting for the perfect tree and it just wasn't happening. So, we decided to go for the experience, rather than the best tree, and cut down our own. It was great! The tree farm didn't have lights so we were literally using our cell phones to check out the options. Pretty funny! It was getting colder and colder so we opted to cut down one that looked decent with the little we could see of it. We brought it home and were pleasantly surprised that it was a beauty!

Parker's first time seeing Christmas decorations!

Ready to find a tree!

My boys in front of the chosen one

Love them!

Camden, Parker, and I rode this "train" (more like a slow, bumpy shuttle) while the hubs paid and loaded the tree

Time to decorate!

The bottom of our tree looked ah-mazing! :)

Rewind: Christmas time 2011

I love Christmas time! There are so many fun things to do with the little ones! Here are some shots of our outings between December 21-23. We'll kick it off with a few cute pics of Papa and Parker playing!

12.21: On our way to a Christmas parade

Playing peek-a-boo

Having fun listening to the music and watching the (fake) snow

12.22: Leavenworth. A cute German town in the mountains. Daddy and Camden did some impromptu sledding. Jonathan bought this plastic sled there. He and Camden had a great time until Mommy did one run, went off the course, and broke the thing in half. I almost peed.

Loved the lights!

Such a cute little town

Camden and GG making a snowball

12.23: Cougar Mountain Zoo. It was cold so the ladies and Parker stayed home while Daddy and Papa ventured out with Camden.

Santa's sleigh

Make a wish!

Rewind: Christmas Eve 2011

Every year we make orange upsie daisies (sp?) for breakfast on Christmas morning. For some reason (can't remember why now), we (I use that loosely, it's actually Jonathan who makes them) had them on Christmas Eve. It was Camden's first time eating the goodness and he loved it! Another highlight for our big boy was making cookies for Santa with GG. Sweet memories!

"Daddy, it's good! I like it!"

Cheeeese!

Parker playing on his own...something he does very well

Helping himself to a snack

Cookie time!

I'm older than I think

32. Creeping up on the mid-thirties category. I remember thinking 32 was old...even when I was in my twenties! A few reminders that I am older than I think:
  • I can remember when gas was $0.99 per gallon
  • I've been driving for more than half of my life (just having my permit counts!)
  • I couldn't tell you who they were talking about for 75% of the Grammy nominations! (maybe that's an exaggeration, but it felt like I had never even heard of many of the artists)
  • This year marks ten years since I graduated from college...college?? I really feel like that should say high school!
  • I'm married with two kids! When I'm alone in the car (a rare moment, indeed) blasting JT--yes, we have a radio station who still gives Timberlake some love--I feel like I should be pulling into good ol' PLNU. Oh wait, that was 10 years ago! See above bullet.
  • I have one eye on the anti-aging products in the skincare store
  • The styles I wore are now coming full circle...bright colors and jean shirts anyone?
  • I see kids driving and think to myself, "How does that 12-year-old have a license?"
  • I refer to high schoolers as "kids"
  • A girl I babysat is now married and has a 5-month-old
  • One of my former 5th grade students is now a freshman in college...my college! Yay Loma!
  • When I was in shape and played sports is now known as "the glory days"
I had a great birthday! My hubs spoiled me with a facial, time to myself, and a gym membership! My sweet three-year-old melted my heart by singing Happy Birthday and my favorite one-year-old just acted like it was any other day! I think I'm living in "the glory days" right now!
